In order to measure attentional bias for threatening information, we need to have threatening information to show participants!
We needed to find out how related to psoriasis certain words were such as itchy and lesion. We created a survey that asked people with psoriasis to rate a (very long) list of words for how related to psoriasis they were, their level of emotional stimulation, and how negative or positive they were in terms of their meaning.
We struggled initially getting the word out on social media, but thankfully The Psoriasis Association came to our rescue and advertised our survey on their website and social media outlets which made a big difference to our response rate!
We now have our stimuli!
